NELR RESCOM awards special contributors to the Scouting Movement

The Northeastern Luzon Regional Scouting Committee conferred awards to local councils and individuals for their contributions to the Scouting movement in the region during their 2nd Quarter Meeting.

CABARROGUIS, Quirino — The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Northeastern Luzon Regional Scouting Committee (RESCOM) conferred awards to local councils and individuals for their contributions to the Scouting movement in the region during their 2nd Quarter meeting held last July 1-2 at the Quirino Watersports Complex, Capitol Hill, Cabarroguis, Quirino.

The RESCOM convened a Court of Honor for the National Higher Awards during the meeting to honor the Scoutmasters of the region who rendered distinguished services to the Scouting Movement. The awards were conferred upon the recommendation of the National Court of Honor.

Scouter Maricel E. Pascual of the Northeastern Luzon Regional Office (NELRO) received the Bronze Service Award. Scouter Zaldy A. Salmon, also from NELRO, received the Bronze Medal of Merit.

Scouters Rena C. Andal of Cagayan North-Tuguegarao City Council (CNTCC) and Vicente B. Sacalamitao of Quirino Council received the Bronze Usa Award. Scouters Teresita A. Antonio of CNTCC and Johnny M. Bugasto of NELRO received the Silver Usa Award, while Scouters Romeo E. Castillejos and Genoveva R. Rios, both from CNTCC, received the Gold Usa Award.

Scouter Villarose G. Aquino of CNTCC received the Bronze Tamaraw Award, while Scouter Felipa E. Gamiao of CNTCC received the Gold Tamaraw Award.

Some councils received the Lorillard Spencer Award during the 65th Annual BSP National Council Meeting in Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna, last May 27, 2022. The awards were presented to their representatives during the Court of Honor; RESCOM also recognized these councils and individuals for their excellence in Scouting:

The BSP Abra Council received a plaque of recognition for registering the highest number of Scouts under the Community-based Scouting Program in 2021. The RESCOM recognized them as the best implementer of the Community Scouting Program in the region. 

Scouter Deo M. Ramos of Abra Council received the Outstanding Scoutmaster Award. The National Council conferred this award for his contributions and service in Scouting. 

The BSP CNTCC also received a plaque of recognition for best performance in Scout advancement for Class A councils. The council was also recognized for its successful implementation of the BSP Urban Agriculture Program in 2021. The RESCOM recognized them as the best implementer of the Kid Scouting Program in the region.

The RESCOM also recognized Scout Raymund Romeo C. Guzman, Jr. of CNTCC for outstanding community service for his Project DANUM (Development of Aeta Communities, Nourishment facilities in Union with Rural Management plan). The project was endorsed to the Asia-Pacific (APR) Regional Scouting Committee for recognition. The APR Committee further endorsed the project to the World Scouting Committee. Guzman received the Outstanding Community Service Award from the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and the Gawad Roberto M. Aboitiz Award for Community Service from the Ten Outstanding Boy Scouts of the Philippines Association (TOBSPA) for his work.

The RESCOM recognized the BSP Santiago City Council as the best performing local council in the region. They were also recognized as the best implementer of the Kab, Boy, and Senior Scouting Programs in the region.

The BSP Nueva Vizcaya Council was also recognized as the best implementer of the Rover Scouting Program in the region. They also hosted the Advanced Training Courses for Kawan and Troop Leaders at the BSP Camp, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, May 17-24, 2022.

The BSP Baguio City was also recognized for hosting the Course for Managers of Learning. The course was held at Bonifacio Elementary School, Baguio City, last April 18-24, 2022. The BSP Quirino Council was recognized for its hosting of the 2nd Quarter RESCOM Meeting.

The RESCOM convened their 2nd Quarter meeting to discuss matters on past and future Scouting activities in the region. They also conducted the Court of Honor to recognize noteworthy individuals and councils of the region.
