BSP, GSP Baguio kick off Nat’l Scouting Month celebration

BAGUIO CITY — The Boys Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Baguio City Council with the Girls Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) Baguio City Council celebrated the 2022 National Scouting Month with an opening program last Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Baguio City Athletic Bowl. 

There were over 1000 Scouts who gathered, as well as BSP and GSP Board Members, Administrators, Scout Leaders, Scout Coordinators from 10 Scouting Districts of the Department of Education – Cordillera Administrative Region, School Division of Baguio City, and private schools. 

Hon. Federico P. Martin, Ed.D., School Division Superintendent & BSP Council Scout Commissioner; Hon. Ramon E. Jacinto, BSP Baguio City Council Scout Executive; Hon. Betty Lourdes F. Tabanda, GSP Baguio City Council President; Hon. Lilia A. Fariñas, BSP Baguio City Council Chairperson; and other BSP and GSP board members were also present at the event. 

The program started at exactly 9 A.M. with an invocation; the BSP and GSP also prepared an intermission number for the participants. After the opening program, a simple parade occurred at the Baguio City Athletic Bowl.

The event’s purpose is to showcase to the public and its stakeholders the contribution of Scouting to nation-building through developing young people by actively engaging and supporting them to become agents of change in their respective communities.
