The Amateur Media Association of Philippine Scouts Vice President for Sustainability Bianca Mae Elpedes was hailed as one of the winners of the 2021 Search for the Ten Outstanding Boy Scouts of the Philippines on October 25.

Elpedes is one of the ten Scouts who made it to the top among the 20 regional winners coming from eight regions. She underwent a scrutinous process including document review and validation as well as several interviews at the local council and regional level before making it to the national level.

“The search week has been a powerful, wild, and overwhelming ride of my life. I am beyond grateful for the support of the Scouting community, my friends, and my loved ones in this prestigious competition”, this is how she described her experience of the most-awaited event of the Scouting Month Celebration.

“That afternoon was one of the most frightening, nerve-wracking experiences of my life – the wait for your profile to be read and your name to be called – and when it happened, I can’t hold my tears anymore. To say that the feeling was great after I learned that I won would be an understatement,” she added.

She is the lone female awardee of this year’s TOBS and a new addition to the “Women of TOBSPA” – a group of female awardees of the Ten Outstanding Boy Scouts of the Philippines.
She ended by saying that leading with compassion and living by the Scout Oath and Law is one of the keys to continue living in the middle of this pandemic. “If ever you may have fallen off track during this pandemic, I hope you get to meet yourself with much more compassion as you overcome these battles.”

“May we continue to live up to the Scout Oath and Law and connect the people together through a common identity and goal. As we achieve this, even this health crisis would not stop us from being outstanding always, in all ways,” she added.

The complete list of awardees are as follows: Renzo King, Cebu Council (Eastern Visayas Region); Alvarez, Cabanatuan City Council (Central Luzon Region); Guzman, Cagayan North-Tuguegarao City Council (Northeastern Luzon Region); Ken Boltiador, Cebu Council (Eastern Visayas Region); Santiago, ZANDIDAP Council (Western Mindanao Region); Ticzon, San Pablo City Council (Southern Tagalog Region); De Villa, Metro Manila East Council (National Capital Region); Orlina, Marinduque Council (Southern Tagalog Region); Kurt James Quiambao, Makati City Council (National Capital Region); and Bianca Mae Elpedes, Tarlac Council (Central Luzon Region).

The Awarding Ceremony was held via Zoom teleconferencing app and broadcasted live on the official Facebook Page of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, as well as the NSS and AMAPS Facebook Page.
