VICTORIAS CITY, Negros Occidental—To commemorate the anniversary of the Scouting Founder Robert Baden-Powell, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) conducted last Feb 21 to 23 its first-ever virtual event called B.P CyberJamb 2021 participated by scouts nationwide.

With the theme, “BP Trail: Scouting for Recovery and Resiliency,” the event aimed to connect every scout and leader in the movement giving them a safe online platform to honor the legacy of Lord Baden Powell amid a pandemic.
Solidarity and brotherhood must remain strong in a digital era, with or without crisis. The event revisited the philosophy of the founder that a young citizen should be the one active and responsible in creating a better world.

Yasser Sarona, the mind behind the activity, mentioned in an official release that CyberJamboree 2021 is catered to several objectives including self-awareness in the middle of the pandemic. Aside from that, it is also designed to engage the young scouts in dialogues that will help them contribute to BSP Flagship projects, the World Organization of Scouting Movement (WOSM), and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Earlier this afternoon, Scout Johann Sebastian Capanas from Cebu Council and Scout Lian Jon Santos from Agusan Council were hailed as the Mr. and Ms. BP Ambassador 2021.

The organizers innovate the means of spearheading the event to pull it into success. They used different online and social media platforms to reach as many members and scouting leaders as they can. Activities are broadcast live on Zoom, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Kahoot.

With a massive number of CyberJamboree participants in the country, BSP Chief National Cedric Train claimed it as a “manifestation that Scouting [in the Philippines] is alive and well” even during a pandemic.
