CANDABA, Pampanga—Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Rappler CEO Maria Ressa said on Wednesday morning (Manila Time) that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) affirms its earlier decision to shut down the online news organization Rappler.

Ressa cited the ruling dated June 28 in a statement shared during the East-West Center international media conference in Hawaii.

“We were notified by our lawyers of this ruling that effectively confirmed the shut down of Rappler,” the statement said, that also said that the SEC affirms its decision to revoke the certificates of incorporation of Rappler Inc. and Rappler Holdings Corporation.

Rappler will appeal the decision, she said.

This is a developing story.
