NegOcc conducts 1st Urban Survival Training Course

Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Negros Occidental Council (BSP-NOC) held its 1st Urban Survival Training Course. The event was held on November 17-20, 2021 at the Dr. Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial National High School in Cadiz City.


A total of 30 Scouts from Outfits 211 and 722 participated in the activity. The survival training course is part of their requirement to advance to the next rank – the Venturer and Eagle Scout. Both Scout units came from the same school.

The BSP-NOC Council Scout Executive Roberto Maguad, LT was present to open the course. While Mr. Dindo M. Ampalla, WBH welcomed the Scouts who were also his students. Scout Leader Ben Dela Rosa, ALT w/ CMT, supervised the conduct of the activity as its Course Leader. He was present during the whole duration of the event to ensure its compliance with the training policy of the BSP – National Office. As part of the course staff, Dela Rosa prepared the participants with his lectures before the training proper.


Deployed into two phases, nine Senior Scouts were part of the Advanced Survival Course while 21 Senior Scouts were part of the Basic Survival Course. Participants were installed on November 17 and November 18 respectively. The activity concluded on the 20th with all participants passing the course. Eight participants are female who is expected to be the inaugural batch of female Eagle Scouts in the city.


The conduct of this course almost two years since the pandemic started is a new milestone for Outfit 211 and Outfit 722.
