Two Scouts from the Philippines hailed as Messengers of Peace Heroes

Two Scouts from the Philippines received the Messengers of Peace Heroes Award last December 6, 2021 in an online awarding ceremony by WOSM.

MANILA, Philippines – Two Scouts from the Boy Scouts of the Philippines bagged the Messengers of Peace Heroes Award on December 6, 2021. Scout Raymund Romeo C. Guzman Jr. and Scout Leader Jubille Marlourd D. Lucena were included in the 2021 Messenger of Peace Hero Awardees.

According to the World Organization of the Scout Movement website, The Messengers of Peace Heroes Award was created to recognize exceptional Scouts and volunteers to create a better world. The award acknowledges and recognizes the extraordinary service of young people and their contributions towards community development, the promotion of dialogue and peace, and relief in times of need.

Guzman is the proponent of Project Development of Aeta Communities’ Nourish Facilities in Union with Rural Management Plans also known as Project DANUM. Danum in their local dialect means water.

While Lucena is the Institutional Head of Barangay Coro-Coro Scouting Unit in Albay. A Barangay Scouting Program in partnership with the Sanggunian Kabataan of Barangay Coro-Coro in Tiwi, Albay.

Both MoP heroes are also recipients of the Ten Outstanding Boy Scouts of the Philippines Award in 2021 and 2017 respectively.
